Wakatobi National Park

Wakatobi National Park has the potential of marine natural resources of high value and uniqueness of both types, with an amazing underwater panorama. Fish species richness of this national park which is owned as many as 93 species of food fish and ornamental fish trade among argus spots (Cephalopholus argus), takhasang (Naso unicornis), pogo-pogo (Balistoides viridescens), napoleon (Cheilinus undulatus), red fish (Lutjanus biguttatus ), rabbitfish (Siganus guttatus), Amphiprion melanopus, Chaetodon specullum, Chelmon rostratus, Heniochus acuminatus, Lutjanus monostigma, Caesio caerularea, and others.

In addition there are several types of sea birds such as geese, brown stone (Sula leucogaster plotus), kettle melayu (Charadrius peronii), Eurasia kingfisher (Alcedo atthis), there are also three species of sea turtles are often landed on the islands in the Park is hawksbill turtle (Eretmochelys imbricata), loggerhead turtle (Caretta Caretta), and cracked turtle (Lepidochelys olivacea).

Indigenous people living around the park or the sea tribe called Bajau tribe. According to ancient Chinese and European explorers, says that human beings are capable of sailing to explore the islands Merqui, Johor, Singapore, Sulawesi and the Sulu archipelago. Of the whole man boating in Southeast Asia that still have traditional boating culture is Bajau tribe.
